My Partner and I began planning to start our own family in 2003 and after 2 years finally had our first child in 2005. After our first daughter the process of having our second child was much easier as we already had the contacts and the ‘know how' and our second child, a baby boy, was born in 2008.
We never really realised how important it was to network and socialise with families similar to our own, as well as all the different families we have met, until our daughter started school. On starting school Gia began to realise that our family was a little bit different to some of her friends families, she started asking questions about why we were different. As a family we began to realise the importance of meeting and socialising with other families with two mummies or daddies or even three parents, as is our case to reassure our children that all families are different and that there are other families similar to ours.
We hope in starting this website that the experience of raising a family that is a little bit different will be easier for anyone. Our family looks forward to meeting many more new families both locally and nationwide at the many events we hope to help organise in the future.
